Not Dead

I don't know what's going on with me. Or why I like Taylor Swift. Or why I can't stand one night sober.

Have a lovely day beauts. <3

Lancome Hypnose Doll Lashes mascara

" Doll Lash Effect mascara. Wide-eye look"
This is the second HE mascara I've tried ( got a sample size because I expected disappointment). The first was Estee Lauder Sumptuous. Bottom line: everything you read about drugstore being the same as HE as far as mascaras concerned are true, at least in my experience.

This felt & wore as well/long as my Maybelline One by One. I got both in Very Black. My lashes looked the same, whichever they were coated in. Plus the Lancome doesn't say waterproof. I will only wear waterproof mascara. I work in Dishland & everything under the sun can make me cry. The only plus I can give Doll Lashes is that the triangular wand makes it easier to reach corners. Most negative thought: goopy when trying to do my bottom lashes. Someone suggested letting it dry out a bit & giving it another go. Good advice.

Sephora Box =)

Recently I put in an order at Sephora because I my night cream was almost gone. My last 2 tubes have been Neutrogena  Healthy Skin Anti Wrinkle cream. It comes in a metal tube (which I've seen that recommended) & it contained Retinol. Another great thing. I didn't have any problems with the drug store kind but I wanted to try a higher end brand I decided on Boscia  Recharging Night Moisture. $13 v.s $55.
I love that it comes in a tube with a pump, I've never seen a product with that before. Sadly, no retinol or metal tube. I haven't tried this moisturizer but I have high hopes. I plan on doing a review. My Neutrogena is this close to being all.

I had enough Beauty Insider points for an extra. I chose a Sephora by OPI nail polish:
It's very close to a nude. Light golden yellowy shimmer. I haven't tried Sephora's nail polishes before. I know OPI can't do any wrong.Pinkish tint to it. Maybe next week paint them this color.

If you're familiar with Sephora, you know orders over $50 get you free shipping & 3 free samples. I chose mostly skincare product samples.
( Primer, Serum, Nother Serum)
The Primer is white and more liquid than any primer I've tried previously (Rimmel, Avon). It's my first Make Up Forever product. After all that hype months ago about the teenage model with terrible acne who uses their foundation, I've been wanting to try something from Make Up Forever. It works as well as any other primers I've tried. Won't be buying.

I use Shiseido's Night Time eye cream for wrinkles. I wanted to try something else from the brand. I plan on using it after cleanser & toner but before moisturizer. I'll give a little review when I do get around to trying it.

My third pick was a serum for normal to oily skin. Me totally. Supposedly it controls shine and purifies. I'll let you know. On the back it says to use after cleansing, before moisturizer. No toner before? Or this acts as a toner? I'm not sure I'm sure I'll research it before use anyways.

Anyone have experience with this products?

Freddy's Favorite : Maybelline One by One

I got lucky with some parts of my body. My eyelashes are not one of those parts. Length is good but my lashes stick straight out. I use a curler everyday. My BFF was blessed with beautiful long bouncy curly lashes. I'll forever be jealous.

So what mascara do I use? Maybelline One by One (waterproof duh). I love how it makes my eyelashes look & the curl holds a couple hours before it droops. Bought a backup since it's sure to go away sometime. Another thing I love about this particular mascara is the wand. There's nothing I would change about it. Somehow get into corners better lol.

MakeUp Alley ratings: 76% rebuy, 4.0 Lippies with 114 reviews.

Anyone else have this eyelash issue? Recommendations!!

NOTW Rainbow =)

I really like how this turned out. So my little piggies got the same treatment:
This one was outside, other inside. I still haven't found the perfect pastel lavender though. This one is shimmery, I'd rather have a matte.
Purple: Nicole Kardashian: One Big Happy Fame-ily
Blue: Revlon Coastal Surf
Green: Essie Moijito Madness
Yellow: L'Oreal Tweet Me
Pink: Wet N Wild Megalast Tropicalia

Missed the world of beauty

I'm finally through my funk and my camera was finally returned to me on Wednesday. I don't have a real post atm. Still getting back into it. Once my routine gets messed up it takes awhile for me to get back it to it, with anything. I'm back to waking up around 12 instead of waiting til 1:30 or 2. Slowly getting back into exercising (120lbs NO). Here are some pics I already had taken but never posted to tide everyone over. If anyone still reads this ha.

Returning week

Ok this would be returning forreal right now post buuuut I accidently left my camera in a friends car. I should be reunited with it beginning of next week. There are so many things I want to take pictures of! My phone (Samsung Galaxy Captivate?) doesn't have a flash so that wouldn't work.

I stopped working out & blogging, two important good things I do for myself. That make me happy. I stopped for like what a month or two (WOW) but I'm finally get back on the track I was on. Break ups screw me up in the head for a bit. I haven't even been reading anything beauty related lately or wanting to wear makeup as much. I feel like I'm waking up from a weird little nap bit by bit.

Things I would be blogging about:
Have some pics for OOTDs finally.
Got a nail polish I was lusting about. It's high end to me & in my favorite color & it's from a current collection =)
Got some more clothes
New desk!
bought my first bronzer & an e.l.f. brush to go with
Losing my v-Card: brush cleaning
LMVC: liquid eyeliner
reviews of some old favs
Finally got the Olay Venus razor (I've been wanting it really badly for some reason)

Feeling back to my normal self. Can't wait to get lost in the beauty world again! =)

Hope everyone had a good 4th & thanks for the shorts help!!

NOTW -- I Need a Refresh-Mint

This is a polish from Wet N Wild's MegaLast brand, my second I've bought. As you can see from the pic, this polish isn't very "minty". In the bottle it looked like a blue/green mint. On my nails it looks like robin's egg blue. Makes me think of Tiffany blue too. Not that I've ever seen a real Tiffany's box haha.

I really like this color even though the name is misleading. Two coats worked out perfect & topped with my Revlon No Chip Top Coat (gonna invest in a pricier one when the bottle is finally empty.) My nail pics are always so sloppy looking, sorry bout that ladies. I think this color would be a good background for some vintage flowery looking nail art. I also thought about putting white crackle on top for a skies & cloud look.

What do you girls think of this color?

Revlon Diamond Lust

I've done very few reviews & these are usually a staple of beauty blogs. I feel like I just am not a good reviewer...I like something or I don't & that's about all I can say.

I grabbed shade Starry Pink (dark or bright colors still freak me out). This does not photograph well at all. From the photo you can kinda tell it's a pale pink shade with TONS of shimmer. TONS OF SHIMMER. Must emphasize that because Starry Pink is pretty much just shimmer. My brush picked it up well. goes everywhere. I had it under my eye, on my cheek. I don't know if it's just my ghost paleness that makes the pink nonexistent on my lids or what.
Can you tell which eye has it? Sorry for extreme closeup also girlies.

I would not re-buy. This is basically for shimmer. I'm not quite sure what to do with it. Total dud in my opinion. Too messy & no color. There are 4 other colors in the Diamond Lust collection. Maybe they're better but I won't be the one to find out lol.

If any of you would like this, comment & I'll send it your way.
Has anyone else tried these yet??

Beauty Buys & New Work Sneakers

What you'll all be mostly interested in: the beauty buys. Nothing spectacular, just some things I felt I should own but never got to buying.
Wet & Wild H2O Proof Liquid Liner: I've seen many beauties post about this. I've never owned a liquid liner. This is a great buy because it was cheap (rather practice with cheap stuff than waste expensive) & gets awesome reviews.

Spoiled Polish in Hit The Brakes: Refused to be photographed accurately. =( It is plain old vampy sexy red. No orange tint which the photo kinda gives. Now I have every basic polish color =) I really like Spoiled.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Cream Lipgloss in Pink Benefit: In the tube this has a subtle shimmer but it doesn't go on your lips that way. Decent pink color. Doesn't blow me away but my only other lip gloss was clear. I'll use it but it doesn't seem that amazing after wearing it twice. Hate the applicator, flimsy wand.

My old shoes were green Nikes (I love EVERYTHING green). This is what they look like after 11 months of 5 or 6 days a week wear in the kitchen. Natural curl! Haha. When I saw the New Balance I immediately fell in love. Not green but rainbow so they'll match anything I could possibly wear to work. These are also for running. My old shoes were flat bottomed like Chucks or Vans. Today will be the first time I try the new ones out at work & I'm actually excited. Dork.

Losing my V Card -- Nail Art

Firstly, I apologize for not having a link to which video exactly inspired me.[ Fun fact: my laptop shuts itself off if I try to watch a video soooo I use the Xbox for Youtube. ] I've seen cute vintage-y floral nail designs EVERYWHERE. Decided to give it a go. The supplies I used:
I managed to use 5 different brands without even trying =) The nail dotting tools are ones off Amazon. They're useful but if you hop on Google you can find plenty of ways to make them homemade.
End Result:
Of course since this was a new adventure I did it on my toes. Do they look like flowers? No. Not at all. But it was practice & they still look interesting. IRL people said they look cool. So not a complete failure.

Any polish addicts have advice/cool designs they've done?

Discovered a good un

I found a cute blog today, See It, Love It, Swatch It. It's a newer one like mine. I love finding noobs like myself who are just starting out. Anyway, Dawn has a really biiiiig giveaway going on. Thankfully it doesn't involve Facebook or any other sites. (I will never get a FB.) Here's the link:
I've been thinking about doing a giveaway. I almost have 30 followers & I am so grateful for them all. If I had the money I'd send you all some sort of little trinkets just for helping me get this blog going. Plus, it makes me feel wonderful that what I think & publish is interesting to other people than just my Mom & sister (Hey Kenzie if you read this!! <3).

My next post will be coming tonight/tomorrow with my first (not so grood) attempt at nail art using nail dotting tools. I'm a smartie & started on my toes though so no one can see haha.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend girlies!

Revlon Lip Butter V. L'Oreal Lip Balm

These products have both been getting a loooot of hype lately. I finally purchased a Revlon Lip Butter & figured these would be great for a head to head comparison. Obviously, they're different shades so I won't really be able to compare that.
Revlon is right, L'Oreal left
Sweet Tart is more lipsticky than Rose Elixir. It's bright and matte. I end up blotting some off.

Rose Elixir is lighter with a tiny bit of shimmer. Not frosty or glittery though. It matches my lip shade perfectly. I like that because I don't feel self conscious wearing a bright shade (still out of my comfort zone..) but what's the point of wearing lip stuff if it doesn't make a visible difference? This glides on easier than the Revlon also. The SPF is an added bonus.
R- Revlon  L- L'Oreal
I feel the packaging on both could be better. If you don't have them twisted down the whole way, the tops smush on the lid.
The Revlon's quilt design is cuter than plain jane L'Oreal. For some reason they decided to only do it on 2/4 sides.
Gold always makes me feel like a product is fancier. I know that's not always the case though. L'Oreal's top only goes on one way, snaps into place well.

I think these products are both basically the same. If I had to choose one, I'd recommend the L'Oreal. I know you girlies have to have some opinions about this one...please share them in the comments!!

Lip Balms!

Or Chap sticks as everyone calls them...even though it's a brand name & blah blah blah. I use them interchangeably. One thing most girls I meet, even if they're not into beauty/makeup, always have are chap sticks. Millions of them with all the brands out there. Here's my stash:
  • Live Laugh & Bath: Monkey Farts. Love the name. No SPF =( Mostly use just at night before bed.
  • Aquafina Flavor Splash: Strawberry Again, no SPF. This was a freebie from a friend when I was without lip balm. I love the smaller tubes, great for my itty bitty top lip =)
  • Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm Another gift. I would not buy ever again. Peppermint can be drying/irrating.
  • Chap Stick: classic SPF of 4 which is a no go for outside. This one stays inside or I use it at work
  • Neutrogena Norwegian Formula SPF 15 which is what The American Cancer Society recommends.
  • Blistex Deep Renewal SPF 15 - Yay!
  • Maybelline Baby Lips: Pink Punch Highest SPF of them all (20) but just don't like it. The pink is too bright for my taste

Recent Beauty Buys =)

L-R:: 2 Weeks Sober, Electric Blue, Distant Memory & Pumping Gas

No idea why the lilacy purple is called 2 Weeks Sober. Spoiled really comes up with some weirdo names. Take the brown: Pumping Gas?? I bought it to add a brown to my collection & Spoiled polishes were on sale for .99! =) My bestie picked out Electric Blue.
Some $10 flats from WallyWorld. I figure they're be more laid back & match more than the patent ones I recently got. Fiiiiinally got some brush cleaner too, also Walmart brand. Yet to try it but plan on doing a fun First Time post.
How could anyone not love these earrings? For $2.11 the price was right on for me!
2 Revlon buys. I plan on doing a review of the eyeshadow, sorry for the not great pic. As you can see, it's called Starry Pink. Very glittery shimmery pale pink. Jumped on the wagon. Lip butter in Sweet Tart. I'm not planning on reviewing that because I know there's a million and one out there.

Any buys you're especially proud of?

Quick Post -- My Look on Monday

Hello sugar plums =) This is just a quick post of some pics I took earlier this week. I don't have enough funds to do very many (any) OOTD posts so here's a teaser =P

One my computer it was vertical idk what happened!

Ahhh I even tried saving it sideways so it'd be the right way here!
So that's me. I should've taken a pic of the back of the shirt, lacy & cute.  Im jealous of you gals who look like models & can dress like them too!

Also a quick question: I think heels are sexy, beautiful, fashionable but how do you train youself to walk in them?? I wobble around like a newborn giraffe!

Icky Nails

First off, I'm very glad that I finally feel like posting again! I've felt blah & haven't been into makeup or beauty too much. Anyway off to the post!

My (un)beauitful nails

Usually they aren't so rough around the edges but when I'm stressed I take it out on my poor nails. Near the ends on some nails are "flakyish" and  bend easily. I've been researching how to get them in tip top shape. I'm sure some of you have the same issues as me =/ I even tried not painting them for like 2 weeks - no change.

Strengthening Your Nails
1) Water can make them weak. Great news since I'm washing dishes 5 days a week! Wearing gloves can offer some help. Applying a good hand cream is also beneficial. ( I looove Neutrogena  Norwegian Formula!)
2) Try not to use your nails as tools (Guilty of this too) Don't try to rip or open packaging or anything else with your nails. Use scissors or another tool. This leads to the flakyness I hate!
3) Stop chewing them! Of course this is the most obvious tip.
4) Give a strengthener a try. I've been using Sally Hansen Powerful Acrylic Gel. However after I bought it I discovered it had some ingredients that don't really help your nails: formaldehyde, toluene, and dibutyl phthalate. Next time I plan on purchasing VitaSurge Strength Gel which doesn't have any of those baddie ingredients
5) How you file is important. Sawing back and forth is a no-no. Instead go in the same direction. Use the not as gritty side whenever you need a file but save the really rough side for emergencies. It can weaken the nails by making them too thin!

Was this info helpful to any of you ladies? I am so excited to be back to blogging =) I have some great ideas for upcoming posts. Happy Hump Day!

Where Have I Been?

So I kinda fell off the face of the Earth. Break up with the bf. I'm the one who wants it. Dealing with that, haven't felt inspired or motivated to blog lately. I'm going to start posting again this week. Promise =)

SPF -- Why?

You hear all the time from articles, blogs, books: Wear SPF!!! But do you actually know WHY it is so so so important to your skin? Wrinkles, fine lines, sun spots, skin cancer & broken blood vessels. Any of that sound fun? Didn't think so lovlies. You can prevent/reduce these skin issues by wearing SPF.  Every single day!

There's 3 types of radiating rays from the sun: visible, infrared & ultraviolet. Ultraviolet (UV) are the baddies that cause all those horrible effects. Within that category there is 3 to protect against:

  • UVA rays are out in force all day. They penetrate through the epidermis & dermis (messing up new cells) These are the ones that can cause cancer!
  • UVC aren't your biggest concern -yet. The ozone layer absorbs them but that is thinning.
  • UVB rays are like UVA lite. They damage the same layers of skin. The difference is they don't have as much wavelength. 10am- 3pm is the most important time to watch out for them.
Sun exposure produces free radicals (evil little molecules). Free radicals are bullies to healthy skin. They can make skin less firm, lessen it's ability to fight off the damage & even hurt your white blood cells.

This damage can happen in winter & even through car windows! People who commute a lot during their lives have higher cases of skin cancer- on the side of the face facing the sun. Basically:

Using SPF saves your skin from signs of aging & keeps it healthy!

In a post in the beginning of the week I'll explain what to look for in SPF containing products & give a review of my favorite moisturizer with SPF. I use it every day. Even when I know I'll be inside 95% of the day.

Did this post enlighten you cutie pies at all? Anything you think should be added?

Colors Used:
Wet & Wild Meglast Tropicalia
Nicole Rainbow in the S-Kylie
Base coat: Sally Hansen Hard as Wraps Acrylic Gel
Top Coat: Revlon No Chip

I was very excited to finally use my newest Nicole color! It really is a rainbow of colors. I spot silver, blue, yellow, green, & pink. Some are smaller sprinkles others are bigger. Love it completely <3

The W&W...hmmm. I like bright pink color. This nailpolish also has a bigger flatter "Manicurve Pro Brush". It's my favorite brush of any brand polish. The only problem is W&W polish refuses to last for me. =(

I did one coat of w&w, covering it with only one coat of glitter on most nails. That was Monday. Wednesday at work 2 nails were bare by the end of the night. So to touchup, I skipped the pink. Just 2 coats of the Nicole (you can see it on my ring finger in the right photo). Last time I visited the mall Clarie's had a polish called Candy Shop. It basically looked like my nails but the convenience  of pink & the awesome glitter in one bottle. I'm not sure of the quality of their nail polish so I skipped over it.

The Sally Hansen works as a base coat. I can't tell if it strengthens my nails or not like the package claims it will. I'll update you ladies on that later

This weekend: finally gonna do a post about SPF! I am a lazy girly =(

Beauty Items I've Gotten Recently

Hay cutie pies! Before I get to the good stuff (more like a baby haul), I'm gonna ramble a bit. [Oh joy lol] First, I am up to 21 followers!! Yay for me. Second, I really need to set aside time to mess around with the setup of my blog & make an awesome header...words are just boring. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

shroom bracelet!
Peace ring

vinyl black flats

The BF & I took a date night (our very first!) to the Mall recently. He generously bought me all these cute little things. Yesterday I wore the flats & ring. The jewelry is from Clarie's. I love that store! The flats were only $16. I really needed a cute pair of shoes...all I've got are Chucks and a pair of heels. Gorgeous but not pratical in anyway.

Next was some nail goods. Since I've been painting mine I have noticed the ends are kinda..flaky? The top layer will come off a bit & leave an uneven patch. So far I've used the Sally Hansen by itself & as a basecoat. I'm hoping it helps! The polish is Rainbow in the S-Kylie by Nicole. I wish I could take better pictures because I'm in love with this glitter! You'll get to see it in my NOTW post Thursday.

What do you use for weak breaking nails?  And someone PLEASE explain to me how I can get my pictures to be three in a row across not all over the place?

Happy Hump Day =)
